Amy Bratskeir is an associate at BHPK focusing her practice on the representation of public employers and private entities in employment, civil rights, and tort cases in federal and state court, and before state and municipal agencies. She also practices in BHPK's insurance defense group.
Before joining BHPK, Amy worked as senior counsel in the litigation division of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s Office of General Counsel. She worked for the MBTA for over seven years, representing the agency in state and federal cases, including personal injury litigation, real estate matters, and transportation law. Prior to her work for the MBTA, Amy acted as assistant corporation counsel at the City of Boston Law Department for several years, where she defended the City and its municipal officials in tort, employment, and civil rights matters.
Amy has significant trial experience and has obtained numerous jury verdicts in her clients’ favor. Amy also has meaningful appellate experience both before the Massachusetts Court of Appeals and the Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, including a precedent setting decision in Coren-Hall v. MBTA, 91 Mass. App. Ct. 77 (2017).
Amy is active in the Massachusetts Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, where she focuses on assisting the court’s reentry programs. She also volunteers for Sole Train: Boston Runs Together, a youth mentoring program and running club for Boston teens.
Amy graduated from Brown University and Northeastern University School of Law. Between college and law school, Amy worked as a Legal Aid paralegal in Bronx (NY) Family Court, and as a confidential investigator for the New York City Board of Education where she investigated allegations of sex abuse.
In addition to her success in the courtroom, Amy focuses on resolving issues early on to avoid court and serious conflict altogether. She is a certified mediator and advocates for mediation and other alternative dispute resolution options where appropriate.
